Welcome to the North Texas Chapter of AAAA

PRESIDENTS CORNER

Welcome to the Army Aviation Association of America's (AAAA) North Texas Chapter. We are proud supporters of Army Aviation's soldiers and families. Our members hail primarily from Industry, National Guard and Reserve, and active retirees. We are the tenth largest master chapter in AAAA but what we lack in size, we make up for in dedication and support. If you are not already a member, I highly encourage you to join and if you are a transferring member, we stand ready to help you transfer into AAAA North Texas Chapter.

We have had a banner year thus far! We were the host chapter for the AAAA Convention held in Fort Worth 13-16 April 2010. Perhaps you joined us on Cowboys Golf Course, had your foursome's picture taken with Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, or partied with us during the Chapter's Reception and had your picture taken with our Longhorn Steer. Look for the steer to attend more functions, he is house broken and well behaved. We made over $55,000.00 for the AAAA Scholarship Foundation during the Convention and have set aside two more endowed scholarships due to this effort. We have had the pleasure of COL Nelson Schufflebarger and MG Jim Myles come and speak at quarterly dinners and well as Maj Gen Bill Essex, who encouraged members to become active with Snowball Express.

So what's ahead? We will be circulating ballots for chapter officers by the end of August. The current North Texas Chapter board is ending its two year service in early October and has consented to run again for another two year term. We have our fall Scholarship Golf Tournament at Diamond Oaks Country Club on 1 November 2010 and our Christmas Reception at Fort Worth's Petroleum Club on 8 December 2010. Please mark your calendars for both these events. I look forward to seeing you there.

We are also working to establish more integrated and supportive ties to the North Texas Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA). Their President is JP Hogan, a former Cavalry Pilot and AAAA member. NTC AUSA is also holding a Golf Tournament on 8 October at Brookhaven Country Club with a noon tee off time. Their flyer is being sent to all AAAA NTC members by email. Our AUSA brethren also support our Christmas Reception and will do so again this year.

Sincerely,
