Welcome to the North Texas Chapter of AAAA

Second Quarter 2015

We were challenged to get BG Bob Marion, Program Executive Officer for Aviation to join us in the second quarter when ice storms forced him to cancel his support of our first quarter professional dinner on March 5th. Larry Ginder, our Vice President for Programs sprang into action and coordinated a New Board Member reception at Sky Creek Ranch Country Club on March 23rd. Newly executive board members Dave Downey, VP, Industry Relations/Public Affairs, Steve Mathias, VP, Treasurer joined reelected Terry Reininger, VP for Scholarships, and Bill Gavora moving over to become VP of membership. BG Marion did honor his commitment to speak to the chapter when he returned to visit local industry on April 22nd. Over seventy attendees heard the PEO Aviation articulate where Army Aviation stands today and what the affects of sequestration in FY 16 will have on the acquisition side of our branch. A fervent Dallas Cowboys fan, the night was culminated with the presentation of a Cowboys hat suitable for wearing in his Redstone Arsenal area of operations to BG Marion.

Your AAAA North Texas Chapter Executive Board joined AAAA National in supporting the Women in Aviation International (WAI) Conference in Dallas from 5–7 March. Clare McGarrey and Terry Reininger are deserving of our thanks for personally supporting this event and talking to perspective Army Aviators.

AAAA North Texas Chapter was honored to be part of the 2–149th GSAB Dining In on April 11th. This dining in saw the passing of the colors from LTC Joanna Gale to LTC Jeff Long as well as LTC Gale's retirement. The Order of St. Michael Bronze Award was bestowed upon Major Ashley Bloom and Major Eric Phillips. The Lady of Loreto award was given to Ms. Lorie Hanna and Ms. Leslie Phillips for their unwavering support of the 2–149th GSAB Family Readiness Group during the battalion's most recent combat deployment. We thank LTC Gale for her great support of soldiers, families, and the North Texas Chapter during her command and look forward to the same fruitful relationship with LTC Long.

Third Quarter 2015

We are trying something new on 25 July. We are teaming up with North Texas Chapter of AUSA as a sponsor for the AirHogs Minor League Baseball game at the new QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. See our events section for more details and how you might participate.

Our scholarship golf tournament for 2015 will be held at Sky Creek Golf Course in Keller on 29 September. Please come out and support this very worthwhile event. Corporate Sponsorships are available and given good weather, a fun time should be enjoyed by all participants.

Fourth Quarter 2015

We will again host a Holiday Reception at the Petroleum Club on 10 December. BG (Ret) E J Sinclair, the AAAA President will attend and speak. We will invite members of AAAA, AUSA, VHPA, and TCU ROTC to join us for this gala event. Mark your calendars.

Thinking of serving on the AAAA North Texas Chapter Executive Board? Let us know. The positions of Chapter President, VP Secretary, VP Programs, and VP Military Affairs will be up for election in January 2016.
